Secoli di storia uniscono Trieste all’Austria: a partire dal 1382 la città entra a far parte dei domini degli Asburgo, sotto i quali rimarrà fino al termine della I Guerra mondiale. Lo sviluppo dell’istituto consolare austriaco, nonché la presenza di rappresentanze estere all’interno dell’Impero è legata principalmente alla figura di Maria Teresa, che ne regola l’attività nel 1758. Nel 1809 la politica estera è affidata al conte Metternich, grazie al quale l’Austria assume in Europa un ruolo determinante. Nel 1831 vengono costituite la società di navigazione “Lloyd Austriaco” le “Assicurazioni Generali Austro-Italiche”.
La sede del consolato di Trieste è attualmente ospite della Camera di Commercio di Trieste in Piazza della Borsa.

Trieste’s history was related to Austria for a long time. The city became a part of the Austrian Empire in 1381 and was under Habsburg rule until the end of World War I. The Austrian consulates and the number of foreign representatives within the Empire developed thanks to Maria Theresa, who ruled the consular activity in 1758. In 1809 Earl Metternich took charge of the Austrian foreign policy, allowing the Empire to acquire a key role at European level. The shipping company “Lloyd Austriaco” and the insurance company “Assicurazioni Generali Austro-Italiche” were established in 1831.
The Austrian Consular Office of Triest is at the present hosted by the Triest Chamber of Commerce in Piazza della Borsa.

L’histoire de Trieste a été liée à l’Autriche pendant plusieurs siècles: depuis 1382 jusqu’à la fin de la Première Guerre mondiale, la ville fait partie des domaines des Habsbourg. Le développement des Consulats autrichiens, ainsi que la présence de représentants étrangers à l’intérieur de l’Empire sont liés principalement à Marie Thérèse, qui en règle l’activité en 1758. Suite à l’intérêt du Comte Metternich (1809) pour les affaires étrangères, l’Autriche, et Trieste par conséquent, acquièrent un rôle très important en Europe. En 1831 la compagnie de navigation “Lloyd Austriaco” et la compagnie d’assurance “Assicurazioni Generali Austro-Italiche” y sont établies.
Actuellement, la Chambre de Commerce de Trieste accueille gracieusement les bureaux du Consulat, à Piazza della Borsa .
